Prevention is better than cure...

Good oral hygiene is proven to be keep your mouth healthy, prevent gum disease, tooth decay and bad breath. At Bexleyheath Dental we firmly believe that prevention is better than cure and regular visits to our experienced team of dental hygienists will play a big part in preventing long term dental problems.

Controlling the build up of plaque is essential as it is plaque, along with sugar in your diet, that will cause gum disease or tooth decay. Severe gum disease causes at least one third of adult tooth loss.

The hygienists at Bexleyheath Dental Practice will provide you with a personal plan showing you specific ways to control plaque and ensure that your oral health is to a good standard. If we find any sign of gum disease, the hygienist can also help control this by carrying specific procedures and removing any build-up of calculus (hard plaque or tartar).

We would recommend that you have your teeth cleaned professionally every 6 months and your appointment will include tooth scaling to remove plaque, the removal of tartar and polish your teeth. We will also show you how to brush and floss properly at home.

By keeping plaque off of your teeth, you will help to keep your mouth healthy and so retain your teeth for as long as possible. If you have any concerns over the general health of your teeth and gums, and particularly if you have noticed blood on your toothbrush or when you rinse, please call us now.
