To ensure that we are able to provide a safe environment for all patients and staff we would like to request that unless you are exempt, all patients and carers still have to wear a face covering when they attend the practice for an appointment.

Bexleyheath Dental Clinic doors are now open

We wish to reassure all our patient that your and our staff safety is paramount and that we continue to follow guidance of the relevant authorities in particular Public Health England, NHS England and the Government.

There are no restrictions with regards to medical treatment and you are actively encouraged to keep your appointments. At The Sandford Clinic we have all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and will continue to follow our high standards in cross infection control.

What next?

Please continue to attend your appointments. We have excellent infection control procedures along with a robust triaging policy to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.

If you are worried about your attendance please contact us to discuss your concerns and we can always postpone your treatment till a later date.

We continue to recommend that patients in the high-risk category delay non-essential treatment until further guidance has been given by the relevant authorities.

When you arrive:

We advise that you wear a mask at all times while inside the dental practice and only remove your mask at the request of the dental professional. We will continue to check your temperature and if this is above 37.8C, you will be advised to rebook your treatment and to follow government guidelines. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for an appointment due to social distancing guidelines.

As you enter the building you will need to use the alcohol disinfectant rub to disinfectant your hands.

The treatment rooms will be prepared prior to your appointment with all surfaces disinfected after each patient. The air purification/exchange units will continue to be used throughout the day in each surgery. We have sourced PPE and unlike the start of the Pandemic (March 2020 in the UK), there is no shortage. Please rest assured that we continue to maintain high standards of cross infection control to keep you safe.

Stay safe and please contact us if you have any questions.

Kind regards

Endodontics

Endodontics is an area of dentistry specialising in dealing with the causes, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of the dental pulp (the part in the centre of the tooth made up of living tissues and cells). Endodontic treatment is the last stage in attempting to save a tooth. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential, otherwise it may lead to a severe infection.

All dentists are trained in endodontic (root canal) therapy. An Endodontist is a dentist who has completed a minimum of 2 or 3 years of postgraduate specialist training. In the UK, this title is awarded after a rigorous assessment process.

In more difficult and complex cases, your dentist may refer you to a Specialist who will use a microscope and intricate equipment to give you the best possible result.

Our practice is one of few referral centres in the South East that has all specialities under one roof. Our highly skilled in-house Endodontist will strive to provide you with comfortable and painless treatment, so you can be rest assured you will be in good hands.

A Healthy Tooth vs Infected Tooth

An infection of the dental pulp (nerve and blood supply) of the tooth can occur as a result of a cavity or trauma. Your symptoms may include acute pain, swelling or an abscess.
